SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Demetrios II Nikator, first reign, 146-138 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 14.11 g, 12 h), Ptolemaic standard. Tyros, SE 169 = 144/3. Diademed and draped bust of Demetrios II to right. Rev. ΒAΣIΛEΩΣ - ΔHMHTPIOY Eagle, wings closed, standing left on prow; behind, palm frond; in field to left, club surmounted by city monogram; in field to right, ΘΞP above monogram. SC 1959.3b. Bright and attractive. The obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, about extremely fine.
